Ongoing Safety Support
A retained safety resource — for employers who need the function without hiring for it.
Can a small employer outsource its health and safety function?
Yes. Ontario requires employers to meet their duties under the Occupational Health and Safety Act, but does not require those duties to be discharged by an employee. Smaller employers commonly retain an external health and safety resource to maintain the program, run inspections and keep training current, which is substantially cheaper than a full-time coordinator.
What the engagement covers
- Scheduled workplace inspections and reporting
- Keeping the program current with regulatory change
- Training renewals tracked before they lapse
- A named contact when something goes wrong
Who this is for
Employers of roughly 5 to 50 people who need the function covered without a full-time hire.
